HIGHLIGHTS: Several important decisions were taken, and Cliff Egan brought us up to date on goings on at Molineux.  Previously holding the post of Lottery Manager at Stoke City under CE Jez Moxey, Cliff joined Wolves at the start of the 2000/01 season. He has also worked as the General Manager of Margate Football Club, and was the Folkestone goal keeper. Chairman Rick Hayward recently presented a cheque for £9,423 from funds raised by the Wolves Goalden Gate weekly draw to Michael Rowan of Kemp Hospice. Cliff is also a member of the Lotteries Council He described the atmosphere at the Club as excellent, and told us that most of the injury problems seem to be well in hand.

WWLSC sponsored Shaun Newton before his departure to West Ham and ultimately the Premiership, so we swapped to newcomer Rohan Ricketts for the second part of the season, and Cliff brought his shirt to be auctioned at the AGM. The winner of the auction was Alan to celebrate Angie’s birthday. She also won one of the two 2004-5 Season review DVDs raffled on the day, while Roy Eagles won the other copy, obviously delighted with his win. The website competition for the DVD was won by non member Michal Sznerch of Tychy in Poland with 9 correct answers (here) and there was a tie between Phil and Rob G for the member’s prize, won in the penalty shoot out (drawn in Welsh by Roy) by Rob.  Thanks to ILC Sport for the sponsorship.

The Club members decided at the AGM to sponsor Lee Naylor for 2005-6. Shirts will carry advertising on the back as will the shorts for 2005-6 (Chaucer).

Cliff also reminded us about the Goalden Gate weekly draw which has already been won by a London Wolves member and so far has put £1,000 back into WWLSC.

Cliff talked about how impressed he is by Glenn Hoddle’s management of the club, and also what a great job he thought Jez Moxey does.

Also decided was a resolution to appoint Steve Bull as an honorary life member (Stephen George Bull MBE) in recognition of his outstanding and continuing contribution to Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club."

Steve's record: D.O.B - 28th March 1965 Fee - £50,000 From West Brom Goals - 306 For Wolves (Club Record) , 1 For West Brom Int Goals - 4 For England Club Apps - 545 For Wolves , 2 For West Brom International Apps - 13 For England; Hat-tricks - 18 For Wolves (Club Record)

Decisions that will directly affect the membership were - no change to membership fees, Virgin train prices are unchanged from last season, early booking for the 40th Anniversary event will be required in order to best determine the venue, a change to the Newsletter, and changes to the Club’s rules. Guy was elected as travelling representative specifically to represent the members travelling on Club trips. Two nominations were received for the Chairman position, and Stuart Earl was re-elected

Rule changes - a set of changes proposed to clarify certain issues arising from the previous AGM

40th Anniversary Dinner - member action
John Engleman discussed proposals for a venue for the 40th anniversary event. (Note: thanks to Stef we have settled on the Valley (see 40th info) and members will need to reserves their places. A form is included from the 40th info link )The venues discussed at the AGM were the Union Jack Club but it can only accommodate 110 seated. Allowing for official guests with spouses this would leave around 70 places for WWLSC members, which would be halved if everyone brought spouses. The menu costs around £35-£40 excluding drinks. An alternate venue at Swanley in Kent can take many more but the last train leaves to London at 11:40
Molineux was also discussed but, because we are the London Supporter’s Club, it was felt that the event should be in London and this was reinforced by the comparative poor attendance at last season’s end of season event

In order to better assess the demand and the commitment to attend, the Club needs to take non-refundable deposits of £10 per head. Details of how to send your deposit are published here.

Chairman’s address. Stuart Earl reflected that the highlights of a disappointing Wolves season were the Meet the Players event in Marlow before the Reading match, where Glenn really looked after us, spent a lot of time in discussion and let his dinner go cold!. (Pictures are on the website here) and the planning for the 40th anniversary event.
Minutes & Matters arising. Clarification of the acceptance of the previous AGMs minutes was requested and given. A matter on the rules was deferred to the specific agenda item
Secretary’s report - Dave Slape We currently have 288 members. Dave also discussed the income from memorabilia, programmes and the train competition
Treasurer’s report - Peter W for Tim. the figures were circulated, showing a profit of £557 on expenditure of £45,914.64. It was requested that copies be available in future at the meeting. They are published further down this page.
Travel Secretary- Peter Woodifield The most tickets requested were 46, and away Plymouth 30. On average 37 travelled to home games. Virgin Prices are unchanged for the start of the season. A vote of thanks to Peter was unanimous and vocal.
Entertainments Officer (40th anniversary) - John Engleman - please see the item above on this event
Newsletter Editor - Phil O’Connor. Phil thanked Stef and Stuart for their efforts on the last magazine while he was taking exams. A lively discussion on cost-cutting led to a proposal for interim “news sheets” every 6 weeks or so via e-mail, the website and lower cost publication with a bumper end-of-season edition although ertain items are supposed to be published in the newsletter according to the rules. Some discussion was had about a 40th Anniversary souvenir publication. (Peter A had suggestions about how to collect material)
Election of Officers. A proposal was made for Dave Bracher as Chairman so Stuart Earl vacated the Chair for the election. Stuart was re-elected with Dave winning 4 votes
All other committee members were re-elected unopposed
A discussion about the benefits of a specific role to represent the travelling members resulted in Guy being elected. This included a discussion about the Club’s responsibility for stewarding trips. Travelling members will be issued with a code of conduct
Membership fee - Unchanged. Proposals for reductions to £15 and £17 and increases to £20 were discussed and voted on

AOB & Rule changes

Rule changes - a set of changes were proposed to clarify certain issues arising from Rule changes in 2003-4. The new rules are published on this site under WWLSC Rules This page also contains a link to the previous version.  A variation on the proposition included an appeal clause for membership applicants rejected by the committee, but this was voted down.
Barry Baker appeal.  A proposal to overturn Mr Baker’s expulsion by the committee in 2004 was proposed and discussed, including comments on issues with the nature of the expulsion and lack of appeal, as well as Mr Baker’s subsequent actions. A vote was eventually called and the motion denied by 21 votes to 7 with s a few abstentions.
Rowan shirt auction, sponsored player kit (see highlights above). The Chairman reviewed the sponsorship opportunities for the coming season and Lee Naylor, the Club’s longest serving pro was a unanimous selection
DVD Competitions. The prize is a DVD of the 2004-5 season review donated by ILC Sport. Michal Sznerch of Poland won the web site one with 9/10. Phil and Robert Goddard tied with 8/10 for the members version. Roy drew Rob’s name as the winner. Two further copies were raffled, one won by Angie, thanks to Stef’s sponsorship.
Other questions: the committee were asked about the table at the Sir Jack event (which was privately booked) and about members being offered places at the shirt sponsors’ dinner.
Honorary Life Membership for Steve Bull was proposed and agreed unanimously. Citation above.

The full minutes will be published here when available. e&oe.
