  • Annual General Meeting  July 10th 2004

During the close season, the Club’s AGM was held a the Pied Bull in Streatham SW 16 on July 10th. A report (draft minutes) appears in the Members’ Only Zone.

Our guest of honour was Frank Munro, Wolves legend of the seventies, and his wife Naomi.   Frank starred in defence for Wolves with 365+6 appearances and 19 goals.

He is quoted in the excellent Peter Lansley’s book “Running with Wolves”, recently published and available from the Wolves shop, as saying that Leeds’ Billy Bremner offered him a bribe of “five grand to give away a penalty”. Wolves won the match 2-1 preventing Leeds from winning the League Championship, which went to Brian Clough’s Derby County.

Frank is pictured here with Naomi and Stoo, while Stef somehow got into the second picture....

2004-5 AGM - Saturday 16th April 2005

The AGM took place at the Brockley Social Club, Lewisham courtesy of Leo.   The minutes will be shown in the members’ section on this site once the Club have published them.  That section will also cover other items brought up in the meeting - link

Several important decisions were taken, and Cliff Egan brought us up to date on goings on at Molineux.   Previously holding the post of Lottery Manager at Stoke City under CE Jez Moxey, Cliff joined Wolves at the start of the 2000/01 season. He has also worked as the General Manager of Margate Football Club, and was the Folkestone goal keeper. Chairman Rick Hayward recently presented a cheque for £9,423 from funds raised by the Wolves Goalden Gate weekly draw to Michael Rowan of Kemp Hospice. Cliff is also a member of the Lotteries Council  He described the atmosphere at the Club as excellent, and told us that most of the injury problems seem to be well in hand.

WWLSC sponsored Shaun Newton before his departure to West Ham and ultimately the Premiership,  so we swapped to newcomer Rohan Ricketts for the second part of the season, and Cliff brought his shirt to be auctioned at the AGM.  The winner of the auction was Alan to celebrate Angie’s birthday.  She also won one of the two 2004-5 Season review DVDs raffled on the day, while the website competition for the DVD was won by non member Michal Sznerch of Tychy in Poland with 9 correct answers (here) and there was a tie between Phil and Rob G for the member’s prize, won in the penalty shoot out (drawn in Welsh by Roy) by Rob.   Thanks to OLC Sport for the sponsorship.

The Club members decided at the AGM to sponsor Lee Naylor for 2005-6.

Cliff also reminded us about the Goalden gate weekly draw which has already been won by a London Wolves member and so far has put £1,000 back into WWLSC.

Also decided was a resolution to appoint Steve Bull as an honorary life member (Stephen George Bull MBE)  in recognition of his outstanding and continuing contribution to Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club."

Steve's record: D.O.B - 28th March 1965 Fee - £50,000 From West Brom Goals - 306 For Wolves (Club Record) , 1 For West Brom Int Goals - 4 For England Club Apps - 545 For Wolves , 2 For West Brom International Apps - 13 For England;  Hat-tricks - 18 For Wolves (Club Record)

Decisions that will directly affect the membership were - no change to membership fees, Virgin train prices are unchanged from last season, early booking for the 40th Anniversary event will be required, a change to the Newsletter, and changes to the Club’s rules. Guy Thomas was elected specifically to represent the members travelling on Club trips. Two nominations were received for the Chairman position, and Stuart Earl was re-elected.  More in the members’ section here

    AGM 2006

Around 20 members again enjoyed the hospitality of the Brockley Social Club for the London Wolves AGM when once again Cliff Egan was our guest of honour.  Cliff concluded the meeting by talking about the many things going on at Molineux and sending Jez Moxey’s best wishes.

Prior to the Chairman’s address Stuart drew Phil O’Connor’s name out of the hat for the Match of My Life - England World Cup book. Rob Goddard and George Sinagra were the only other all correct entries from WWLSC.

Stuart, after reading out apologies, passed around the London Wolves trademark certificate which was granted earlier in the year.   It was recorded that Barry Baker had given WWLSC the limited company London Wolves Ltd as well as the trademark, a gesture which was much appreciated and cost him a lot of money.

Secretary: Dave Slape reported that we have currently 248 members on the books and reported on the promotional item sales.  The 40th badges should be available at The Valley.

Cliff Egan added to Dave’s report about the revenue generated by the Goalden Gate draw - £508 last year and reminded members to sign up.

Travel: Peter Woodifield was still on vacation but sent in his report. The Virgin service has improved but the remote bookings service is still causing difficulties   The only delayed trip was to Norwich where the train was cancelled and a refund has been gained.  The club is still owed £175 by ex-members.  Peter also asked that if a member can’t make a trip that

Top attendances were Preston (50) and Hull (48) at home and Sheffield (37) and Hull away.

No details are yet available on fares for next season. We have 7 season tickets and 2 away seasons bought on the Early Bird scheme.

Peter thanked Dave, Guy, Maurice and Pam in the WWFC ticket office;  the AGM thanked Peter for all his hard work

    Membership Fee unchanged

Newsletter.  Christmas and end of season issues were published as per the members’ wishes at last year’s AGM.  Interim e-newsletters were also sent (mailed to members without internet access). Since some members had requested more the whole membership will be asked what they want. (see communication)

Membership communication.  Members will receive a package shortly asking whether they want a printed magazine or to view it on the internet.   (We don’t have email addresses for around 100 members).   Not replying will be taken as asking for Internet only). Also included will be Goalden Gate enrolment forms.

We also have the opportunity to run our own Fantasy League.   Anyone interested in participating please email me here.  Probably £10 - winner takes half the pot. We’ll also ask this question in the member communication.

Entertainments - John Engleman - 40th Dinner Dance.

151 coming including the players listed on the home page.   The Bar opens 6.30pm.  The event opens at 7.00pm and Dinner is at 7.30pm.  We will have music, auctions, raffles.  A table plan will be at the entrance to the Millennium Suite as will  Rita and Carol who will be selling raffle tickets for  great prizes such as a Gallon of Whisky, 6 Bottles of Shiraz, an IPod, a DVD Player, Ferraro Rocher and include use of holiday homes in Thailand and Barbados  We also have raffles/auction prizes of Wolves signed shirts, footballs etc.

There should be the opportunity to buy copies of Ernie Hunt’s book and the Match of My Life - Wolves (featuring John Richards, Mike Bailey, Bully and others).  The meal should finish around 9:15pm when the raffles will take place.  As well as the players, Richard Collins, a Director of Charlton Athletic will be joining us.  Dave Dungar from Chaucer Group, Wolves main sponsors, will also be attending. The bar closes by 12:30am and we must leave by 1.00am.   Souvenirs of the event will be given to each participant, including a special edition Newsletter which will also be sent after the event to members who were unable to attend.

Thanks were given to sponsors of the event - Roy Eagles, John Engleman, Dave Slape, Dave Hodges, and Roy Bowdler as well as Tower Press and Digiprinters.

There wil be a river boat trip with the Players from Greenwich Pier to Charing X or Westminster on the Sunday morning.  Details will be given out at the dinner.

    Cliff Egan:

Cliff is Wolves’ representative to WWLSC and will be attending the 40th Dinner together with Stuart Cain, Wolves’ Director of Marketing & Communications.

Cliff had spoken to Jez Moxey en route who asked that his best wishes were passed on to London Wolves.  He said thank you for the fans who make the effort to support Wolves home and away - and for their friendship to the Club.

Cliff emphasised the £500 gain to London Wolves from the Goalden Gate draw (£4.33 a month(?)) and Roy emphasised the benefits of winning!

A question was asked about the make up of the Wolves Parliament.  (Details of members and David Instone’s notes of the first meeting are on our site here.  Wolves are very keen to extend fan dialogues and this is an important part of that.  The membership was by nomination (or self nomination) and the membership was then selected independently of Wolves.   If you have issues to be raised you can take it up with any member (eg Chris Cox of Daventry).

Cliff repeated Jez’s comments about the rumours of Milan Mandaric taking over the Club, and reminded us that SJH had written off £38m in loans so that any takeover by a committed well financed fan could happen.

Another question about the manager appointment revealed that about 12 of the many candidates were serious possibilities but they were working on this every day.  Paul Ince is certainly in the frame but Jez is also trying to get his player contract sorted, and that is a separate matter.  (Paul has has the opportunity to put his views on what needs dping to Rick Hayward (see Garry’s News))

Jez is also stressing the culture change at the Club and that the Youth and Academy set up look good for the future.  There are cutbacks on both sides of the Club but they were needed.

AGM 2006-7 - 28th July 2007 at the Brockley Social Club - notes from the meeting - these are not the minutes

Contact Dave Slape to order a copy of this print A small turnout of 19 this year heard Chairman Stuart Earl welcome guest Cliff Egan from the Club.  The event which has overshadowed everything was the Doog’s death on 25th June.   The Doog was our President from 1968-1987 and life president from 1987 to 2007.  Robert Goddard displayed the Doog’s Northern Ireland Shirt which Derek had signed for him in February.   London Wolves have available for sale signed copies of The Sash He Never Wore (updated) £10 and the poster print of Doog at Wembley in 1974 framed (£35 or £60) or unframed £20.  Contact Dave Slape to order.

However, the year had been a good one otherwise, and compliments are still coming in about the 40th Anniversary Dinner in July last year.  The football performance had also been a big lift from the previous three years. Stuart again thanked especially Peter Woodifield and Dave Slape for all their work during the year.  Apologies were received from several members and committee members.

Minutes of the previous AGM were accepted.

Secretary’s Report: Current membership - 247. Income from Merchandise included Key Fobs £3, Badges £3.5, 25th £15, 40th £63, programme sales £23, train competition £58, Doog books £60, and the pontoon competition £125.  Expenses were £677 including £371 and refreshments for meetings £82

    Loss for 2006-7

    £3,726.69

    ort
    (Peter W reported for Tim)

Matthew Hawthorn expressed the opinion which was generally agreed that the small loss on the 40th Dinner was acceptable.  The loss of ££4,000 was mitigated by £800 excess in the previous financial year.

Travel Secretary’s Report.  Peter said that the trips had run well with only one problem on Chiltern Railways for the Colchester (home) match, but a travel voucher had been issued.  Club travel was arranged for 24 Home games and 16 away. Trains were not available to get to the WBA match. Thanks to Maurice for driving to several matches and Matt for the trip to Oldham.   Highest home trips were 53 to QPR and 51 for Colchester, while Barnsley and Plymouth were the to away trips with 24.  Travel brought a small profit of £205, and enables subsidy of the Hull and Sunderland trips while the club seasons raised an extra £183.  Members hold 15 AWST.

There is no increase in fares from Virgin for this season which are £16 for members, Guests are £19, Juniors £8 & junior guests £9.50

Peter again thanked the drivers Dave and Stuart and the ticket office staff at Molineux, especially Pam and Steve.

No shows for the train still occasionally cause problems with Peter having to wait for them until the last minute.  All no shows are charged for the trip.  It was proposed and agreed that the Travel Secretary should also have the ability to impose discretionary “fines” for no shows without notice on top of the charges due.

Entertainments  Several events during the year included the Doog’s dinner for Ian Iggy Cartwright in February, the Wolves V WBA charity match for Ian Cartwright, the kit sponsors lunch (Stoo has Neil Collins shirt for auction) and the most successful ever Meet the Players at their hotel in Croydon before the Palace match.   Pictures here.  The Club wishes to thank Mick McCarthy, Faye, his secretary, and, of course, the players.  Also Bobby Mimms, who wasn’t recognised by the chairman but graciously accepted a drink from him.  The Entertainments Secretary has suggested that London Wolves should go to the Dogs. (details later).

Newsletter Since the previous editor resigned Stef and his printer have produced the Newsletters for August (on the 40th) and December (which included Stef’s meeting with Peter Knowles) and July.  Match reports are now provided by Steve Ray but there are still few other contributors so members are urged to send contributions to Stef or Stoo.

Election of Officers.  The current committee all stood for re-election and were returned unopposed.

Membership Fees:  Unchanged:  these are Member £18  Overseas £21 Two People £22 Family £26 OAP free - the cost of membership can be saved in one train trip.

    AOB

Rule change:  Rule 24 Committee: amended to include a position Deputy-Chairman. This position will be filled by Stef Leonard.

Jack Leonard raised the question of recruitment of more members (and younger members, as the membership is aging) for London Wolves.  Stoo will write to Stuart Cain to ask for his support to a mail shot to South East based members of the database (Wolves have a large database of members, STH, people who have bought tickets, etc and who have been asked to accept information from Wolves’ partners.  There would be a clear benefit for the club in selling more tickets and merchandise - examples of Wolves fans who don’t travel because of the train costs but who are not aware of our £16 / £8 junior tickets were given.  Also to ask if the Fans page on the club website could include something about cheap travel http://www.wolves.premiumtv.co.uk/page/SupportersClubContacts/0,,10307,00.html against our entry.  If this is unsuccessful we can also try through the Parliament.  Stoo, Stef also to look at local advertising possibilities

Kit Sponsorship.  It was agreed that London Wolves should continue to sponsor Neil Collins.

Doog recognition.  Two items were discussed.   First, to see what recognition Wolves will make.  This is due to be discussed at the next Parliament (see Cliff’s item) and there is a proposal for a bust to be funded by fans from Chris Cox.  A mural has also been discussed. The other element was how London Wolves should continue to recognise Doog.   Both subjects were delegated to the committee to take action.  The website will continue with its tribute pages.

Dave Hodges offered his services for his now very sophisticated music system at future events and is available .for other events - he has provided the music for an event for John Engleman.

Player of the Season Trophy.   This will be presented to Matt Murray prior to the Reading game by Callum Reed.

Wolves in Pictures.   This new book by David Instone can be ordered via a form on the site link here.  We hope to have a copy for the next WWLSC competition.

A Load of Bull (ALOB).  The first issue of the Wolves Fanzine this season should be out for the Watford match, but Charles Ross is planning a Doog special for the second issue.  He will welcome any Doog stories or memories - you can email him (after the Watford match) at “aloadofbull” <aloadofbull@blueyonder.co.uk>

Cliff Egan - Wolves representative for London Wolves

Cliff again travelled South for the meeting to update us on what’s happening at Molineux and Compton.

First, the atmosphere is so much improved over 12 months ago - thanks to Mick McCarthy and his approach.  For his area of responsibility - 2 hospitality areas are already sold out and some 16,800 season tickets have been sold. (Ed compared with 12,500 this time last year).

Cliff thinks the Doog will be recognised by a minute’s silence or applause in advance of the first league home match against Watford (live on Sky 11th August 17:20pm).  He’s not aware of what else is planned but expects it to be covered at the Parliament.

The Parliament due last week has been deferred in order for Steve Morgan to participate.  The handover is going ahead but tangled with unravelling the Hayward Trusts. Mick has been backed fully by Steve and SJH.  Mick appears buoyant and confident.

The players, too, (ed as we saw at the MTP and Kit lunch) are very very positive and keen to participate in the Club activities, led by Mick.  They all attended the end of season (Charlton) dinner.  They’re very quick to participate in things like the player of the match awards, whereas the previous regime tried to get out of it.

We now have the strength in depth to maintain fitness and participate fully in the Pontin’s reserve league.

Players - Denes, Jamie, and Jemal are all available for transfer (for details see Garry’s News here).  Kevin O’Connor is out on loan, and we should expect some more loaners out, especially of Academy graduates, to build their match fitness and training dedication.  The academy graduates continue to impress Mick and we should expect good seasons from them, especially Stephen Gleeson and Lewis Gobern.  Mick has said that he believes Lee Collins is already ready for first team football.

We’d like to thank Cliff for his openness and continued support of the club.

AGM 2008 at the Brockley Social Club 7th June 2008

This report on the AGM is not the official minutes.  They are here click

BStuart Earl receives his thanyou award from Roy EagleseforeRicky the meeting got underway, Chairman Earl was asked to present the prizes for Roy Eagles’ caption competition featuring Paul and John.   Runner up winning £10 was Ian Golding, while Bill Singleton won the new signed Wolves shirt.  Roy took the opportunity to present a tankard to Stuart to say thank you for his service to London Wolves, managing to create the longest period of silence recorded for many years from the Chairman who admitted that his “flabber was gasted”.

In true Earl style however, the tankard was soon appropriated by Keith’s son Ricky, who also, apparently, was at the Sherpa Van final 20 years ago

Harley Bill was delighted to win the new signed Wolves shirt and we hope it will carry him on his charity fundraising ride (on a Harley of course) across America to Alaska in July.   You can sponsor Bill who is raising funds for the National Deaf Children’s Society - please email him with a donation, however large or small you can afford.  If you pay tax please sign for gift aid   harleybill@ntlworld.com Bill expects to cover some 7,000 miles and has already raised nearly £3,000.

Hell is in Denver

sadly, Harley Bill Singleton was thwarted in his efforts this to raise £3,000 for the National Deaf Children's Society by the US Immigration turkeys who refused to believe that he wasn't an Hells Angel, that the Wolf's head on his jacket wasn't an evil chapter of the Angels, or that he was raising money for charity, and wouldn't let him start his 7,000 mile tour. A simple check on our website would have told them. Denver Broncos? More like Denver Donkeys. Although this was very frustrating, he's not given up and is trying to get a new visa but has to attend an interview at the Grosvenor Square Embassy.  Anyway, Bill feels obliged to offer anyone who contributed to the National Deaf Children's Society and would like their contribution returned, to get their money back. Just email him harleybill@ntlworld.com If you're happy to continue supporting this very worthy cause, there's no need to do anything. The captions were Runner Up - “Yes it is right ,there is more hair around your a*se than on your head”   ..and  the winning caption  was ..........”I’m leading by half a length ! but Gay Boy is coming up on the rails ....ah.  Thanks to everyone who entered raising £46.50.  Roy donated the signed shirt and it raised the prize money and the cost of the engraved tankard.

Chairman: After Roy Eagles’s presentation to Stuart, and a suitable recovery time had elapsed, Stoo got the meeting under way by welcoming everyone. He said he’d brought the meeting forward to try to increase the attendance, but we were down to 24.   Unfortunately that included our friend at Wolves, Cliff Egan, who’d left to run the Commercial operations at Gillingham, and Matt Grayson, Wolves’ new Head on Communications & PR as the meeting clashed with his holiday.  In his opening address Stoo singled out Peter  for the Travel and Dave.  We also clashed with Tim’s vacation but he had got the accounts, with Peter’s inputs in on a different schedule and was applying to be a member of the Wolves Parliament, representing London Wolves and travelling fans.  Stefan and Steve were thanked for a great job on the newsletter (with input from the Chairman of course) as was Peter for the Unforgettable Doog DVD.  Stuart reminded everyone that it was three weeks to the sad anniversary of Doog’s death, and said that some work was going on about a tribute Bust or Statue.

No one raised nay matters on last year’s minutes so they were accepted.

Dave Slape (Secretary) thanked Peter W, and others for their assistance and covered various expenses - which had reduced significantly by saving postage with downloaded copies of the Newsletter.  Of the Doog memorabilia which Dave has sold. £148 cams from the poster, £565 from the signed “Sash” books. and £531 from the DVD.  (additional DVD info below)

Accounts:  The shirt sponsorship was questioned  as a large item but it was generally felt, that apart from the Season Tickets etc this was the best way to put finds into Wolves, and it did place an “advert” in the matchday magazine.   Stuart also said that he was pleased that Neill Collins had taken the trouble to personally thank him for the shirt sponsorship.  It was noted that the expenditure on the Doog (Sash) book was in last year’s accounts.  Income from programmes was from copies being donated (Accounts are reproduced below the pictures)

Travel - Peter Woodifield: travel was organised for 26 home and 14 away matches, and special thanks went to Maurice for transport for some difficult to get to evening games. Away travel increased.  Wednesday Cardiff and Scunthorpe away matches were subsidised but there was a £611.65 profit overall, outweighed by a loss of £655 on the season tickets.  Some sums are outstanding still, and the £5 fines have also been levied. 13 away season tickets have been bought by members.  Once again the Wolves ticket office have been extremely helpful.   2008-9 travel details will be published soon after we know the fixtures.

Social.  There is no social secretary, bit Stef arranged the Meet the Players in Docklands which was very popular( and preceded a great win thanks to birthday boy Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Karl Henry at Charlton) pix here

Newsletter. There is no newsletter editor but a special newsletter was produced with a Doog tribute pullout at Christmas by Stef, which itself received many tributes.    Thanks to Steve for handling all the match reports.  The printed copy run has been halved as members take e-copies which saves a lot in postage.  Thanks to Dave for sending out all the copies. An end of season issue is planned. Stef issued the perennial plea for contributions.  Scanning of back copies to get them all on line is in progress thanks to Matt Hawthorne and Bones.

Election of Officers.  It was decided to continue with the tribute “Honorary Life President Derek Dougan RIP”.   The committee stood for re-election and was re-elected.

Membership fee.  Agreed not to change

AOB - nothing raised

Wolves Club Input.   Cliff Egan has moved to Gillingham.   Matt Grayson was unable to attend to represent the Club and sent his apologies but  the meeting clashed with his vacation.  Various transfer stories were discussed, and cold water (thankfully) poured on the Dwight Yorke story.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS LONDON SUPPORTERS CLUB

MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

HELD AT THE BROCKLEY SOCIAL CLUB

ON SATURDAY 7th June 2008

The Chairman, Stuart Earl, opened the meeting at 15.00hrs welcoming all those present.

APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE:  G.Mastbraker, T.Owers, T.Richards, P.Davies, S.Knapp, D.Bracher, K.Hatwell, S.Hatwell, P.O’Connor, M.Grayson, G.Blake, G.Vincent, P.Coles, J.Engleman.

CHAIRMAN’S ADDRESS:  Instead of starting the meeting in the normal manner, Stuart gave the floor to Roy Eagles in order for Roy to make the presentation of prizes for the recent caption competition. The winner was Bill Singleton who received a signed Wolves shirt, and the runner up, Ken Goulding, received £10.00. Roy thanked everybody who had taken part in the competition. Stuart was then left speechless when Roy presented him with an engraved tankard in recognition of all the work he does on the Club’s behalf.

Stuart then explained the reasoning behind holding the AGM a month earlier than usual. It had been hoped that greater numbers would attend by not ‘cutting in’ to the holiday season. Unfortunately, numbers were more or less the same as in previous years so a re-think for next year is on the cards.

Stuart then proceeded to bestow heartfelt thanks on Peter Woodifield and Dave Slape for all their hard work throughout the year in helping the Club to progress smoothly. He also thanked Peter Bartlett for his tremendous effort in producing the excellent ‘Doog’ DVD and, of course, our superb website. He also thanked Stef Leonard and Steve Ray for the work they put into the magazine, especially the ‘Doog’ edition which received much praise from all who read it.

The work on a ‘Doog’ memorial, in the shape of a bust or a statue at Molineux, was progressing and Stuart would keep the membership informed as and when firm proposals were in place. He did say that estimated costs were in the region of £20,000 and a lot of support had been pledged.

Stuart stated that our regular guest from Molineux, Cliff Egan, had resigned from his post due to family commitments, and taken up a similar role close to his roots, with Gillingham FC. Stuart stated that he would always be welcome to visit us. Cliff’s successor, Matt Grayson, had wanted to be here but sent an apology as he was away on holiday.

Finally, Stuart announced that Tim Richards had applied to stand as a member of the Fans’ Parliament representing London Wolves.

There were no questions for the Chairman.

MINUTES OF THE 2007 AGM:  Copies of last year’s minutes were available for those who hadn’t seen them, although the Chairman reminded the meeting that they had been previously circulated in the Newsletter and by individual e-mail.

MATTERS ARISING:    As there were no matters arising, Stef Leonard proposed that they be accepted as a true record and this was seconded by Leo Mastbraker. The Minutes were passed unanimously.

SECRETARY’S REPORT:     Dave Slape announced that our membership numbers stood at 202 with 34 renewals for 2008. He had received £2,484.00 in subscriptions and £22.00 in donations. On top of that, he had received a total of £1,520.63 for items such as badges, car fobs, programmes, pontoon sales and ‘Doog’ posters, DVD’s and books. His expenses amounted to £458.81 on items such as stationary, stamps and printing. He had detailed costs of all items if anyone wanted a closer scrutiny.

Dave wished to thank Peter Woodifield, Roy Eagles, Steve Ray, Sarah Knap, Bob Goddard and Peter Bartlett for their assistance throughout the year. There being no questions for the Secretary, Stuart thanked Dave for his usual stirling effort.

TREASURER’S REPORT:    Unfortunately, Tim Richards was unable to attend the meeting but did send in his Financial Statement which the Chairman and the Travel Secretary presented. In brief, we are happily solvent and have money in both the current and deposit accounts. The Club also made a profit of £2,310.54 in last years’ trading.  (accounts are shown above)

TRAVEL SECRETARY’S REPORT:      Peter Woodifield  reported that we ran organised trips to all 26 home matches and 14 long distance away games last year, which included a coach trip to the Cardiff City FA Cup match. Most journeys ran to time, with just a couple of delays for which we received voucher refunds. The Marylebone service was used several times when Virgin Trains would not accept group bookings. Peter singled out praise for Morris Jacobs for providing transport to a number of evening matches.

The highest attended home trips were 42 for QPR, and 40 for Preston and Ipswich. The highest attended away trips were29 for Ipswich, 27 for Cardiff (FA Cup), and 26 for Bristol City. The Club part-subsidised the away trips to Sheffield Wednesday, Scunthorpe and the FA Cup game in Cardiff. The profit on the trips amounted to £611.65.

The Group Travel fare to home games had been increased by Virgin to £17.00, from £16.00, but this was more than reasonable as it was the first increase for some 4-5 years. Peter complained that some members were still failing to turn up for trips without giving any prior notification. For those members who fail to cancel their trip, a £5.00 discretionary fine will be imposed together with the cost of the fare.

The Club had purchased 7no.season tickets under the ‘Early Bird’ scheme in March 2007 at a cost of £3,106.00. Unfortunately, a loss of £655.00 had been made on the sale of match tickets, but Peter was grateful to those members who loaned their season tickets to the Club when unable to attend a match themselves. Peter had again renewed our 2008-09 season tickets on the ‘Early Bird’ scheme. There were 13no. away season tickets purchased by members, including 2no. by the Club. For individual matches, ticket prices have been increased by £1.00 in each stand.

Peter wanted to record his thanks, again, to the Wolves Ticket Office, particularly to Pam & Steve, in meeting all our requests for match tickets for last season. Peter also thanked Dave Slape for all his hard work throughout the year. Peter concluded by announcing that travel details for next season would appear on our website once the fixtures had been published.

There being no questions for the Travel Secretary, Stuart thanked Peter for all his hard, and often, frustrating work.

SOCIAL SECRETARY’S REPORT:  This position on Committee is still vacant so there was little to report. Stef stated that there had been no activities undertaken other than our annual ‘Meet the Players’ evening prior to the Charlton Athletic match on Saturday 29th March. This had been a great success, even though it was a rather shortened occasion due to the team coach being seriously delayed in getting to the hotel by heavy motorway congestion. Nonetheless, Mick McCarthy and the team, as usual, did us proud by being very approachable for photos, autographs and chats. The event was made all the better by the following day’s 3-2 last minute win.

NEWSLETTER EDITOR’S REPORT:     Stef pointed out that the Editor’s post was still vacant but he was prepared to continue in the short term in this role. He stated that two editions, July and December, had been published last season. He was particularly pleased with the December issue which contained an 8-page tribute section dedicated to the ‘Doog’. The meeting wholeheartedly agreed that it was indeed an excellent issue, with many favourable reports coming from outside the Club.

Stef thanked Steve Ray for producing the match reports and Peter Bartlett for the photographs and general information. He lamented that the Newsletter needed fresh articles and news of interest from members, otherwise the production could become ‘stale’. He urged members to send in any items of interest. Stef also stated that the decision to send the Newsletter out to some of the membership by e-mail as saving money on the print run as well as the post and packaging.

There being no questions for the Editor, Stuart thanked Stef and his team for the good work.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS:     It was proposed by Roy Eagles and seconded by Peter Abbott that the Committee be re-elected en bloc. This was agreed and passed unanimously.

MEMBERSHIP FEE:    The meeting decided that there was no need for the subscription level to be altered.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS:    After a short discussion, the meeting agreed that there was no need to change our Life President position. Our Life President would, therefore, remain Derek Dougan RIP.

There being no other business, the Chairman brought the meeting to a close at 16.05hrs.

AGM 20008-9

28th June 2009 held at Brockley

notes on meeting (these are not the minutes)

Some 33 members attended this year's AGM and Cliff Egan, now back working with Wolves, joined us.  Apologies were received from several members including Peter Abbott who was at the Dun Cow, and Matt Grayson from Wolves.

The Chairman welcomed two new members to the meeting and thanked several members and committee members for their support to the Club over the past year.   Votes of thanks were made to Dave Slape and Peter Woodifield.  No matters arose from last year's minutes.

Secretary:  Dave reported 278 members.  Incomes included £67 in donations, £27 from programmes, £310 from the DVD, but expenses amounted to £417, prompting comments about MPs

Treasurer:  Overall, a profit of £298 with income of £55,282.  3-4 people still owe the Club money.  There is £3,743 on deposit with HSBC and a further £2,122 in the deposit account.  A small loss was made on season tickets, partly because of the number of Tuesday games, and an additional ST had been acquired.  Accounts follow

Travel & Tickets: The trains had been much better since December.  Marylebone was used instead of Euston during works.  A special trip was arranged with the Police bussing arrangements for Cardiff.  Special thanks to Maurice and his people carrier!  The Mumbai booking centre had been very helpful.  Peak match was QPR again with 45. An overall loss on travel was made of £721, including a subsidy on the Barnsley journey.  Tickets had gone up in January to £20.   We took advantage of the Early Bird and there are now 13 away season tickets.  For the Premiership Wolves are banding games A & B with the A price as high as £40, a 30% + increase.  Special thanks also to the Wolves Ticket Office yet again for all their help and also to Dave and Guy for theirs.
Entertainment: No secretary to report.  The Chairman said that the "Meet the Players" wasn't possible because of the match schedules (the last Saturday London match was QPR in early December) but he hoped this would be in place with the much later matches for next season.  Former member John Roberts has offered to organise a tour of his brewery (Fullers at Chiswick) to take place probably in August.   Roy Eagles organised a brilliant evening at the Dogs before the last match of the season (which led to him being nominated as Social Secretary - see below!)  WWLSC had tables at the Former Players' Association Dinner in February and the Legends Dinner at Molineux in January.  Four members attended the Kit Sponsors's day at Molineux and Compton.  Presentation of the Player of the Season award to Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is planned for the Real Valladolid match on 8th August.  No dinner is planned for this season at the moment, the next big one being the 45th in 2011.  The next event is the July 4th River Wandle walk starting at Colliers Wood.

Newsletter:  Two issues have been produced this season.  There were some unfortunate errors in the December one, but overall member contributions were very good and Stef offered his thanks.

Election of Officers:  A nomination was made by Grahame Stancombe for Roy Eagles for Entertainments Officer which was seconded and carried.   All other officers and committee members were re-elected.

Website:  Several competitions were run - an England shirt, Black Country Giants DVD, FA Cup Finals eBook and the Midlands Masters.  We're hoping to run another for the National Masters in September in Liverpool and members who go were reminded of Steve Morgan's hotel in Chester.  We've also just added a link to a youtube picture of the London Wolves 1977 football team.  It was asked whether we had had shirts from the Wolves to run the competitions (no - but not requested).

Membership Fee:  It was proposed to raise the fee to £20 (with other fees also increasing by £2) to prepare funding for the 45th anniversary dinner.  It was carried with 15 for, none against with the remainder abstaining.

AOB: Revenues from the Doog DVD were discussed, as well as progress with the Doog Statue.  A picture of the model (maquette) will be put on the website and Stuart said it was hoped that specially struck medallions will be available.
Cliff Egan reminded members of the Goalden Gate lottery which supports the Wolves Academy and provides income to WWLSC.  He will put a proposition together to remind all our members of this.  It's raised over £500 for WWLSC and at least one member has won.
A proposal was made to have general London Wolves visiting cards made for members for them to give to potential new recruits to London Wolves.
Kit sponsorship - status of Neill Collins sponsorship was discussed which Peter will follow up with the club.
Meeting closed 16:22.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS LONDON SUPPORTERS CLUB
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
HELD AT THE BROCKLEY SOCIAL CLUB ON 26TH JUNE 2010
CHAIRMAN’S ADDRESS: The Chairman, Stuart Earl, welcomed the few members that attended and, whilst
the attendance was disappointing, he knew that several members had gone to South Africa for the World Cup.
He also stated that after last yearʼs record breaking attendance, it was inevitable that this yearʼs turn-out would
be lower.
It had been a good year for the Club regarding finances, travel, newsletter and general wellbeing, and to that
end he thanked Peter Woodifield, Dave Slape, Stef Leonard and Roy Eagles for all their help and hard work
throughout the season.
APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE: P.OʼConnor, S.Armett, P.Abbott, D.Pearl, G.Shead, T.Reed, G.Mastbraker,
J.Engleman, T.Owers, R.Eagles, A.Colgman, P.Durbridge and R.Cotterell. C.Egan and M.Grayson from Wolves
had been invited to attend but were unable to do so.
MINUTES OF THE 2009 AGM: Copies of last year’s minutes were available for those who hadn’t seen them.
MATTERS ARISING: Stef Leonard stated that the response to the suggestion that the membership bombard’
the government’s awards office for a posthumous Knighthood for Billy Wright, had fallen on deaf ears. The
minutes were approved.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Dave Slape reported that we had 254 members and that subscription income
amounted to £2953.00. Merchandise sales brought in £32.50 and the train competitions £108.00. He also
stated that the income from the parent Club’s Goalden Gate scheme had been very good although he didnʼt
have any current figures available. His expenses amounted to £906.37, of which £436.33 was attributable to
the purchase of stamps.
David Hodges asked how the Club’s income this year compared to last year. Dave replied that he had been
unable to obtain any Pontoon tickets at present so we’d be about £40.00 down. However, the Goalden Gate money
had more than doubled so we were, in fact, better off. There was also a suggestion that the Club take more of
the proceeds from the train competition and put them towards the 45th Anniversary Dinner. This was accepted.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Unfortunately, Tim Richards was unable to attend the meeting so Peter Woodifield
presented a brief report on his behalf. However, details were available to members at the meeting. In summary,
total income for the year 2009/2010 amounted to £63,075.83, whilst total expenditure amounted to £61,476.02.
This gave us an operating profit of £1,599.81. As regards cash at bank, our current account stood at £5,169.16
as of 9th June 2010 and our deposit account £2,122.61 as of 24th May 2010.
TRAVEL SECRETARY’S REPORT: Peter Woodifield stated that the Club ran trips to all 22 home matches and
11 long distance away games. All trips were from Euston with one exception when Marylebone was used. Peter
thanked Morris Jacobs for providing transport to some of the evening matches. He stated that the average number
travelling to home matches increased from the previous season whilst the number travelling to away matches
remained the same. The highest attended home trips were Blackburn: 55 and Hull: 50; the highest attendance
on away trips were Everton: 31, Portsmouth: 26 and Manchester City: 25. There was a loss of £701.85 on the
cost of the trips due to the Club part-subsidising a number of them. He also stated that Virgin Trains had withdrawn
the Sports Group Travel tickets earlier in the season leaving just one class of Group Travel fares. This meant
that the cost of fares to home games now varies. Booking as early as possible can, however, reduce this cost.
He also stated that the discretionary £5.00 late cancellation charge to members was not enforced last season.
The Club had purchased 7 season tickets on the ʻEarly Birdʼ scheme at a cost of £3,285.00. We made a profit
of £241.00 from the match day sale of those tickets. Peter also thanked those members who ʻloanedʼ their
season tickets to the Club when the member couldnʼt attend himself. Early Bird season tickets have also been
purchased for the coming season, there being no increase in the price. There were 15 away season tickets
purchased by members. Peter also suggested that the cost to non-members train travel be lifted from £3.00 to
£5.00 and this was agreed.
Peter reported than part of the money owed by a member from season 2007/08 had been collected, with the
balance promised in the near future. Outstanding money from season 2008/09 has also been collected.
However, we are still awaiting monies from 6 members for last season and that no progress has been made in
collection monies from earlier seasons.
Finally, Peter thanked Pam and Steve in the Wolves Ticket Office for meeting all our requests for match tickets
last season, and also Dave Slape and Guy Thomas for their invaluable help during the season. David Hodges
suggested that a tangible thank you be given to the Ticket Office, to which the committee agreed.
Peter’s expenses for the year amounted to £503.79.
ENTERTAINMENT SECRETAR’S REPORT: Unfortunately, Roy Eagles was not able to be present due to
work commitments, so various members of the committee presented their thoughts on events. Dog racing,
horse racing, brewery visits, pub crawls, ten pin bowling and a Christmas Lunch were what Roy, ably assisted
by Ruth, had laid on for us throughout the year. Where does he get the energy from(?) one member asked.
All were well attended and thoroughly enjoyed. Any profits that were made had gone into our 45th Anniversary
fund. Stuart placed on record our appreciation for all that Roy had done for the Club.
NEWSLETTER EDITOR’S REPORT: Stef Leonard reported that the usual two Newsletters had been successfully
produced in the last year. All processes were running smoothly, although the usual request for memberʼs
contributions, by way of articles, was non-existent. The Chairman passed on to Stef the compliments about the
newsletter he had heard from members.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS: It was proposed by D.Gillmore that the committee be re-elected on bloc for all the
good work they had done for the Club. The motion was passed unanimously.
MEMBERSHIP FEE: The Chairman stated that last yearʼs £2.00 increase in the membership fee had raised
some £1,300 towards the 45th Anniversary fund, and would bring in a similar sum again this year, alleviating
the need to raise it any further. The membership agreed.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS: David Hodges proposed that the time had come to alter the reference in our Club Officers
regarding Derek Dougan. He felt we should abolish the title “Honorary Life President RIP” and replace it with
“Former Life President” together with the dates that he was President. His proposal was accepted unanimously.
The Chairman announced that the date of the 45th Anniversary Dinner had been set for Saturday 16th July
2011, and be held at Charlton Athletics home, The Valley. A small sub-committee had been formed and Stuart
announced that the guest list would be kept secret to enhance the surprise element. Details of the event would
be published shortly.
Peter Woodifield stated that he would be investigating which player’s kit we would be sponsoring for next season.
Stuart said that he had some excellent large Wolves players, autographed montage pictures for sale. They
were excellent value at £250.00 unframed and £310.00 framed. They were going fast.
He also had some terrific Wolves jackets for sale which had the town crest on them with a modification which
read London Wolves. They were also reasonably priced at £40.00.
There being no other business, the meeting closed at 16.15
.
