ILCMedia are the official suppliers of DVDs to Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club. They also supply Unforgettable Doog produced by London Wolves to the Club Shop. info here Each year in recent years they have produced outstanding DVD summaries of the season. On particular highlite of 2010-11, of course, was another “Beating of the Baggies” on 8th May. Here’s what they say about the match: ILCM3928 – Wolves 3 West Brom 1
And win they did, in convincing style, thrashing The Baggies 3-1 in front of a packed Molineux as Steven Fletcher struck twice either side of an Adlene Guedioura goal. If anticipation surrounding the derby clash wasn’t great enough already Mick McCarthy’s team were under added pressure as Wolves sat uncomfortably in the relegation zone before the match. From kick off, and with so much at stake, Wolves showed the greater desire to take all the points from the encounter with the breakthrough coming after just 15 minutes. A lively looking Fletcher pounced to net his first of the day with a low shot that fell nicely for the forward as the opposition struggled to deal with a corner Narrowly missing out earlier in the game Guedioura’s patience paid off as he found himself in space to volley the ball sweetly into the Albion’s net to make it 2-0 and just two minutes after the break Fletcher bagged himself another to take an unassailable lead from which the Albion could only reply with a consolation penalty. The afternoon belonged to Wolves and the Molineux faithful, who were in full voice, were rewarded with three vital points that edged Wolves out of the relegation zone with just two more matches to play. As the final day of the season approached Wolves were one of five clubs facing the prospect of relegation. 3-0 down at half time, it seemed an impossible task but at the helm, and buoyed by a packed Molineux, Mick McCarthy rallied his men and as the drama unfolded elsewhere in the country the chant from the crowd could be heard “One Goal. We Only Need One Goal” And how the players responded. The decisive goal followed with just three minutes remaining as Stephen Hunt curled in a spectacular goal, almost taking the roof off the Stan Cullis stand, and ensuring that Wolves would live to fight another day. Relive all of the goals plus highlights from key matches of the season as Wolves stake their claim to retain a place in the Premier League.
