Wolves have launched several initiatives aimed at supporting young people and encouraging the “fans of future” and key among these are the

  • Family Information Centre opened on November 8th here
  • The Wolves Study Centre in the South Bank here

 

THE WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS STUDY CENTRE

situated under the Jack Harris (South Bank) stand the Centre is aimed at providing young people of Wolverhampton with a dedicated modern facility.  Andy Morgan runs the centre with the Playing For Success programme.  Although the programmes have a focus on primary school age the study centre enables NVQ qualifications in cooperation with the University.  Over 160,000 children and young adults have been touched by the scheme in the past year  - a tremendous achievement.

The design of the centre was chosen by its users and they chose to have it associated with Wolves’ greatest players and Wolves’ history.  Here are some great pictures of the centre (mainly taken by Rob G) courtesy of Wolves’ youth development officer - Andy Morgan.   The pictures are the excellent work of local artist Neil Sullivan.

Bert Williams greets the visitors at the bottom of the stairs and a mural of Molineux is planned for the stairs.  Top scorer Bully is just inside the entrance accompanied by NI captain and previous Chairman of WOlves Derek Dougan.  England star Billy Wright comes next foolowed by The Hair (George Berry) and Johnny Hancocks.

FOOTBALL LEAGUE CHAIRMAN SET TO UNVEIL A FAMILY FOOTBALL FIRST AT MOLINEUX

Lord Mawhinney set to open Wolves’ Family Information Centre

Lord Mawhinney, Chairman of the Football League, is set to officially open Wolves’ new Family Information Centre, prior to Saturday’s special Wolves 4 Family Football home game against Burnley (Kick Off: 3pm).

The new matchday facility, situated next to the Ticket Office at the back of the Stan Cullis stand, will provide a central point where families can exclusively book match tickets for all Wolves games and discover all they need to know about Wolves and the matchday experience, from car parking to community soccer and education schemes. The facility will also be available to families from visiting clubs.

In addition, Wolves will also be the first club in football to launch the Child Safe Initiative, which will be offered via the new Family Information Centre. Child Safe has been successfully introduced in over 90 shopping centres across the UK. The initiative provides children with free wristbands for parents’ or guardians’ contact numbers so that, in the event of a child being lost, the parent or guardian can be contacted quickly.

This latest announcement is part of the Wolves 4 Family Campaign, which aims to encourage the next generation of Wolves supporters. Some other recent Wolves 4 Family Football initiatives include:

  • A special Wolves 4 Family Football ticketing initiative where families can buy 4 tickets for £40 at 4 specified family games, with special pre-match family entertainment at these games.
  • The creation of a Next Generation Parliament, which builds on the existing Wolves Fans Parliament launched in 2006.
  • Hundreds of match tickets given away to young supporters.
  • Four dedicated programme pages to young supporters within each programme (in addition to the existing community pages). Plus the opportunity for young fans to have their questions answered by Jez Moxey, Wolves’ Chief Executive, in the programme.
  • A competition for a young supporter to design the front page of the programme.
  • Free Open Training Sessions for hundreds of young supporters.
  • Support of the Football League’s Enjoy the Match and Fans of the Future campaigns.
  • Creating more healthy food options within the stadium’s kiosk facilities.
  • More ‘smaller spend’ items available within the Wolves Megastore and the launch of a special ‘Family Fun 4 a Fiver’ range.

Brian Mawhinney-sLord Mawhinney, Chairman of The Football League, said: “I’m looking forward to officially opening Wolves’ new Family Information Centre. I applaud the steps that Wolves continue to take to nurture the next generation of young supporters.

“The Wolves 4 Family Football campaign complements The Football League’s ‘Enjoy the Match’ and ‘Fans of the Future’ initiatives. Wolves have taken an important role in all of these campaigns and have worked very closely with The League in ensuring maximum positive impact for their fans.”

Jez Moxey, Chief Executive of Wolves, said: “One of the most important issues facing football is the recruitment of the next generation of young supporters. We have embraced this fact by completely reviewing our matchday experience to ensure it is more family orientated.

“This has ranged from a substantial investment by the club in the Family Information Centre, a ticket booking facility dedicated to families, through to ensuring we have family friendly alternatives in our club shop and changing our matchday programme to make it more family orientated.

“Saturday’s opening will also see Wolves launch the Child Safe scheme via the Family Information Centre. Again this will be another first in football and we hope that other clubs will follow our lead and offer the service. Anything to improve the matchday experience for families has to be a good thing.”
