Wolves at risk of falling out of the Premier League
The Wolves Premier League status hangs in the balance after their recent loss to Blackburn Rovers. Newcomer Connor has taken the team through a 2-2 draw with Newcastle United, as well as some less promising games. These include being defeated by Fulham to the extent of 5-0 and the new loss of 2-0 to Blackburn. After this game, the Wolves were left in 19th place, one above Wigan Athletic who are placed at the bottom. The Wolves are only two points ahead of the latter, which means that their place in the Premier League is now in danger of slipping out from underneath them.
The situation could get worse for the Wolves if Wigan Athletic manage to gain points and move above them. Then they would be at the bottom of the leader-board and at risk of being eliminated. Wolves fans will be on edge, hoping that their team is able to save itself from elimination. They will be nervously waiting for games, playing poker poker or watching films until kick-off comes around and they must sit on the edge of their seats willing for a win. This is not likely to have been the outcome that the team expected after the new manager was chosen, as it would have been hoped that this would have increased their points.
Further problems have been hanging over the team, as some unhappy supporters have actually protested against the appointment of Connor. As well as this, the captain, Roger Johnson, has been fined for turning up inebriated to training. This is clearly not something that will help the reputation of the club, or team morale. So their league table position is not the only thing that the team has to worry about at the moment, although of course gaining some points would be likely to help a lot.
