Stuart announced at the AGM that Joao Gomes had narrowly pipped Mattheus Cunha to the award

Geoff Castro's famous historical tour - Kingston-Upon-Thames Saturday 21st June

Geoff led another historic tour fresh from his election at the AGM as an honorary life member,

joining such luminaries as Bully, SJH, and from last year, DodgesWolf

.

London Wolves AGM 10:30-11:30 The King's Tun KT1 1QT Kingston-Upon-Thames Saturday 21st June

Dave's meeting notes

Committee: S Earl, P and C Woodifield, D Hudgell, D Slape Attendance: 16 [14+2]

Apologies: P Bartlett, P Abbott, S Armett, M Hawthorne, R Eagles and D Bracher.

Chairman: Stuart thanked Dave, Peter and Carol and gave a special mention to Peter Bartlett.  Peter has been operational from Bulgaria and produced a pie chart of the POY vote. J Gomes got 43% from Cunha 35%

Matters Arising From 2023-24: None

Secretary: Dave reported a membership of 156 subscriptions of £2017 Sales £50 [Train competitions £31 and £17 and wallets £2]. Expenses totalled £157-40 [printing £76-40, stamps £68 and envelopes £13], Thanks to Peter, Carol, Robert, Stuart and Peter Bartlett, for assistance during the season.

Treasurer: Carol reported an overall profit of £2235-14, and one member owes for one match ticket. Funds have been invested into various savings accounts, two of which have matured. Interest on those came to £184-88 over two years, which has been transferred to the current account. The initial investment of £2000 has now been reinvested in a new account. We did suffer small losses on two dinners, as tables for ten were short on the night. Jason Guy and Matt Murray were responsible for marvellous evenings which aided various charities. The Club season tickets are now paid for monthly, so the large sum that was paid out at the end of the season ,is null and void. More members are now transferring money for fares and match tickets, which makes things easier.  Thanks to committee members for the figures produced today. The investment account stands at £3569-53 and the current account £3345-77.

Travel Secretary: Peter stated trips were run to all but one home game and 13 away games last season. A number of delayed and cancelled trains resulted in refunds for travellers. There was a slight decrease in numbers travelling on trips, with games being rearranged for TV. Bournemouth and Leicester were the highest attended with 21, and the Club part subsidised some of the more expensive trips. Outstanding money from 2023-24 was collected and one member owes £22 for a match ticket for last season. Season ticket prices remain the same for 2025-26, and smart cards should be retained, as Wolves will introduce mobile phone entry. Matchday prices have still to be announced, and away tickets are likely to be on smart phones. All Club season tickets have been renewed . Thanks again to Claire Peters and Jarod Buckley in Wolves Ticket Office, for their help and thanks also to Dave, Carol and Stuart. Doug and Stuart nominated Peter to World Wide Wolves for an award, but, unfortunately, he was not selected.

Social Secretary: No report

Newsletter Editor: No report.

Website Editor: Website costs rose by £32, and again we have no sponsorship income. X has 4600 followers, up 200. Facebook will show Peter's travel and other news first. The main site has been reduced and the last 5 years material moved to an archive site. The e news usually coincides with Peter's travel updates, and goes to all with e mail addresses plus, several friends, guests and WWFC, plus ex players. Thanks to Carol for photographs from functions. The website payment is £195.40

ANY OTHER BUSINESS: Geoff Castro was proposed for life membership which was carried unanimously.

Carol asked for written suggestions for the 60 th anniversary.  Wolverhampton was suggested but Stuart said the cost of staying over would deter many members.   Dave Slape said the committee had talked of an informal function in a smaller bar at Charlton Athletic’s The Valley.

Meeting closed 11:30am

FSA AGM

The FSA’s Annual General Meeting took place in Manchester on Saturday 14th June and registration for the event is now open.  AGM 2025 – Year Review

Unfortunately our friend Neil Dady didn't manage to secure enough votes to join the FSA board, but he remains very active, especially on the ticketing issues.

Wolves 1877 Trust AGM

AGM was held on Thursday 19th June, 7pm, at The Emerald Club, Wolverhampton with Matt Murray as the star guest.  The board now consists of re-elected board members – Nick Andrews-Gauvain, Ciaran Barker, and Peter Bradburn and new board members – Alan Appleby, Neil Dady, Karen Hill, and James Stibbs. There are currently 217 and 157 Associate Members.  Engagement over ticket pricing the Trust believes led to the prices freezes but there are concerns about match day - the cheapest South Bank is £48.  The Trust also contributed to the 150 memorial shirt.  Full minutes are in the members section https://www.wolves1877trust.co.uk/members-meeting-minutes/agm-minutes-2025

Meanwhile, the Pat Quirke inspired historic walks led by Kevin continue:  "ur next Wolves guided walk around Goldthorn Hill and Blakenhall is on Sunday 6th July starting 10.30. We’re very close to getting enough money to arrange the gravestone for Brodie, then the repair for Addenbrookes vandalised grave. The project goes on. Please support us. "

Season 2025-26 fixture update

Wolves Women's fixtures will be released July 15th.  A big change means that both North and South champions will be promoted from the third tier and the second place teams will engage in a play-off for promotion.  Wolves have finished runners up again to Forest having lost the single place play off to Saints before.   After a big fuss Wolves board have now agreed to support promotion if it is won.   Special good news is that Dan McNamara has agreed to continue as Manager

The nearest station to the ground is Kew Bridge which is only 100 metres away from Brentford’s ground. Fastest trains from Waterloo are at 07, 22, 37 and 52 mins past hour. Journey time approximately 30 mins. Return trains at 15, 27, 45 and 57 past hour.

The ground is also close to the Chiswick Park, Gunnersbury, Kew Gardens and Acton Town stations on the London Underground, and is also served very well with a range of bus routes. The ground is also not far away from the old Brentford stadium, which is about a mile away.

The best pub in the area always has been the Express Tavern just 4 doors from the station while Beesotted use The Globe

Monday 22/1/24 v Brighton (7:45pm kick off) TNT Sports

No official club trip. The nearest railway station is Falmer, which is situated right by the stadium. The quickest

and easiest way to get to the stadium is by train. Falmer station is adjacent to the ground. It's three stops from

Brighton Central station on the line to Lewes and Seaford. Alternatively, you can avoid Brighton completely by

getting a train to Lewes and changing there for Falmer. There are four trains an hour in either direction.

Brighton Central Station is over four miles away from the stadium. Bus No 25 can be caught from Cardinal Square

stop G and operates a regular service (every 12 minutes) up to the stadium from Central Brighton, as do Bus

Numbers 28 & 29. Journey time is around 20 minutes. On return the No 25 leaves from the stadium via a stop

through the coach park, near to the away fans entrance.

Public transport within a geographical zone is free as it is included within the price of the match ticket. Valid on

both buses and trains, the zone extends as far north as Haywards Heath station and east to Lewes.

Anyone travelling from London only needs to buy a train ticket to Haywards Heath.

Sunday 4/2/24 v Chelsea (2pm kick off)

No official club trip. The nearest tube station is Fulham Broadway (District Line).  West Brompton station,

on the London Overground line between Stratford and Clapham Junction, is about a 15 minute walk

to the ground.

Saturday 17/2/24 v Spurs (3pm kick off)

White Hart Lane Station is the nearest to the stadium, which is only a few minutes walk away. It is served by trains from Liverpool Street. Away fans should use Northumberland Park Station which is about a 10 minute walk away. On exiting the station cross the road and proceed along Park Lane. On reaching the stadium turn right and the entrance to the away supporters turnstiles is far down on the left. Northumberland Park is served by trains from Stratford.

The nearest London Underground station is Seven Sisters (Victoria Line). The ground is a 30-35 minute walk away, but buses 149, 249, 279 or 349 go to the ground from outside the station along Tottenham High Road. Take exit 1 on leaving the station.

London Overground also run services from Seven Sisters to White Hart Lane station.

Tales tellers in this edition include a lad from Tipton, Chris Marsden, John Pender, Ted Farmer, Jeff Palmer, Willie Car, and King John Richards himself.

Again proceeds go to charity - Jason raised over £20,000 from volume 1 which sold out.  King John said of volume 1 that he was learning so much about his former teammates and really enjoyed the book.

As you know, Tales from the Tape are available on Jason's Wolf Whistle podcast which is now available on Wolves Radio- the latest Wolves interview is here https://t.co/k7Ya4PuZ62 Adam Proudlock

More recently, Jason also interviewed Paul Berry and Johnny Phillips about their new book which launched on Thursday,   They talked about some great interviews given to them for the book, including the latest three owners, several captains including Conor Coady and Ruben Neves and something about Jez and Steve Morgan in a canoe,  When did Glenn resign - as Jez was also in a boat then?  A great listen here https://pod.fo/e/1a29bb

REVOLUTION of WOLVES - SPECIAL OFFER FOR LONDON WOLVES MEMBERS

Our 55th Anniversary dinner host Sky's Johnny Phillips has teamed up with Wolves insider Paul Berry to unveil the stories behind the story of Wolves in the 21st Century, partly to celebrate the anniversary of the play off win in the Millennium Stadium.

The book is on general sale next week but you can order a signed copy, with a dedication if you wish directly from Paul for £25 postage free.   If you want to know how an Olympic Champion helped our keeper before the Millennium final; or what caused Alex Rae to do a pirouette after scoring the winner in the play off semi; and how did a toaster go to Cardiff the this is the place to find out (and many more things).  With huge cooperation from the club and many players of the promotion, relegation, more promotion, more relegation and yet more promotion years and you can even learn why "5 at the back" worked from one of the practitioners.

At over 400 pages this is the story of the last 20 years.

Interested?  Then email Paul Berry at paulberrycopy@gmail.com with your address details and who to make it out to (i.e. what dedication) and Paul will let you know how to transfer the money and arrange postage.

Simon Ivermee

Sadly, Simon died on 23rd May after a long battle with illness,  He had been treated at Stoke Mandeville until they could not progress his recovery and he passed away in his care home.  Si, our own Wycombe Wanderer, and Bodger, was a long time member of London Wolves, and a regular home and away traveller.   Simon was also a very active player in London Wolves FC.   He was a great friend and travelling companion to Robin Prickett, officiating as best man at his and Linda's wedding at Molineux, meeting DJ and SJH just before the wedding. Robin paid tribute to Si saying  "I have known Si over 50 years; as you know we travelled up from High Wycombe in all weathers including midweek to most home games and until recently many  away games; Si  being my human sat nav, he was a top bloke and Wolves through and through. He was also Best man at mine and Linda's wedding, and will never be forgotten."  Simon actively supported our AGMs and other events and will be sorely missed.

Here with Robin and SJH, second right front row in London Wolves FC, and with Dave and Bully.

World Wide Wolves - London Wolves are UK Club of the Year -  for 4th year running

Stuart was delighted to accept this award from Alan Perrins and Paul Butler in the World Wide Wolves lounge before the Everton draw and the Field of Dreams match for WWW fans.

Our congratulations too to Irish Wolves, Overseas Club for the second time, Scottish Wolves (a combining club) as most improved, outstanding contributor Tony Lawlor of Irish Wolves, whose weekly chat is well worth a listen, and David Koppe of New York who also played in the match captaining the Teal (aka green) team and has hosted Wolves events in New York, as Chairman of the Year.    Also there was one of the pioneers of US Wolves clubs, Chris Wood of Ohio, who played in goal.  It was also nice to see Paul Butler as the special guest in the lounge who told some stories of 2003.  There was a flying visit by Bully.

Alan is opening up the Facebook page to regular visitors to the Lounge.  (Where you can also listen to Tony Lawlor's chats)  I will post something on our Facebook page.  Please take care to understand the house rules, and especially remember that you would be seen as a representative of London Wolves if you join.

World Wide Wolves - Field of Dreams - Fans' match = Joe Feehan

Alan Perrins, who first joined us at our AGM five years ago, has enrolled over 170 supporters' clubs into World Wide Wolves.  Fans from around the world were invited to play on the Molineux pitch after the Everton game.  The Teal shirts won 6-4 over the Golds.   But man of the match was our own Joe Feehan who played number 4 for gold.  He scored what a proud father called a Neves-like top bin goal.  See that here https://twitter.com/i/status/1659992472209043456

London Wolves Walk - Saturday July 8th 2023 11:30

Just two weeks before the AGM, Geoff Castro is arranging his legendary, informative, and possibly liquid exploration of a culturally interesting part of London.  This time we will again be South of the River.

Geoff, your tour guide, writes that he starts on the North Bank before crossing over.....

This year’s walk features famous landmarks both north and south of the River Thames. Starting near the site of the Tower Hill scaffold - where over 125 people "lost their heads" between the 14th and 18th centuries - the walk takes us over Tower Bridge, into the quieter streets of Southwark and then back towards bustling London Bridge. As always, there will be lots of interesting places to see en-route and a choice of over 34 pubs - some of them haunted - although, unfortunately, there will not be enough time to visit them all! A bus is available for those who prefer not to walk. Hopefully, the sun will be shining and the day will feature something of interest for everyone. If you wish to partake in this extravaganza of fact and fiction, please meet in "The Liberty Bounds" (Wetherspoons), 15 Trinity Square, Tower Hill at or before 11-30 for a 12pm start on Saturday 8th July 2023.

Geoff Castro.

GOLDEN GLOW - favourite floodlight matches  from Clive Corbett

Geoffrey Publications is delighted to announce the forthcoming availability of a new book, ‘Golden Glow: Favourite Wolves’ floodlit matches 1953 to present day’, by Clive Corbett and Steve Gordos.

The first time that Molineux hosted a floodlit match was against a South African XI on 30th September 1953.  This was the first of the famous floodlit friendlies of the 1950s that included visits from the likes of Spartak, Honved and Real Madrid. Of course this was just the beginning of a rich history of contests under lights for Wolverhampton Wanderers that included the UEFA Cup run of 1971-72, the visit of Leeds United in May of the same season, the revival of the 1980s, brief stays but memorable nights in the Premiership under Dave Jones and Mick McCarthy, right up to the successes of Nuno’s team.

But the list above is not an exhaustive one as over 100 matches have been chosen by a combination of fans and former players, a number of which are far from glorious and quite surprising. Steve and Clive have even been persuaded to bend their initial rules by including away matches and afternoon games that were partially floodlit for some of their duration. If you are quick, there may even be time for you to submit your choice, if you haven’t already done so.

The book is scheduled for publication around November 2021.  We are now offering you the opportunity to subscribe to the book and if you do this, your name will appear in it. This can be done either in your name or in memory of a lost relative or friend. If you wish to purchase the book, you can send payment and contact details to Clive as below to place your and reservation.

To pre-order your copy of ‘Golden Glow’, please fill in the order form printed below.

Clive also asks "Did anyone go to Forest and think it is worthy as an insertion as Bruno's first win?"
